I was watching the CTV news and saw the accident as reported, I shook my head at the thought that this person was out there trying to help and as a result dies....

GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON - Severe weather and a medical condition led to a pair of fatal crashes on Highway 400, Tuesday, according to provincial police.

Police have identified the Good Samaritan killed in a multi-vehicle crash, Tuesday morning, north of Barrie, as a Parry Sound-area man who was a volunteer firefighter and former police auxiliary officer in his hometown.

You never know when God will reach into the big bingo barrel and draw your number.

Such a shame to be taken in the prime of life.

I suspect he was doing was he wanted to do and that is help other people.

RIP brother and condolences to the family.

It is always sad when someone trying to help sacrifices it all. Thank you for being there when people needed your help brother.

You will be sadly missed Steve. Your prangster attitude, refusal to grow older and that mischievous smile always made my day when I saw you. Our first meeting was 8 years ago when you told me to "Trust me, that hot sauce is not that hot", and nearly ended up losing my voice forever!! You were one in a million and life around our local fire departments will not be the same without you. I am sure you are going to find some way to watch over us all from your special seat above and remind us that your memory is engrained in all those who had the honour of knowing you. I will never look at a bottle of hot sauce the same way again!!! Ha, ha, ha!
