O.K Gents,
I have a few quick questions that I hope someone on here can possibly answer.
First of all I imagine that most of you guys have written for MissFD and either scored well or bombed. Myself, I scored a 79 and by the sounds of it missed out on the interviews for the immediate 10 recruit spots by about 3 marks. I thought I had done better considering that I wrote the same test for PeterboroughFD a few months earlier and scored a 74...at least I improved, funny enough I was still interviewed for PFD.

Is there anybody else out there who scored similar to me with MissFD? , and should we expect OR look forward to an invite for the next round of interviews (20 more spots was it?), or will they be RE-interviewing those who were unsuccessful for the first 10 spots because they had 80+ on the CPS? Has anyone contacted HR about this? Just wondering?
I feel strongly about my resume and application, that if they were to dip into the high 70's for the next set of interviews, I would get a call, having said that, nothing in life is guaranteed!

Also, with respect to those of you who were lucky enough to snag an interview for these immediate spots, how was it?, and would any of you be willing to post some of the questions that you guys felt were difficult, (I know some people dont like doing this because of competition for the job and all), but I'm always looking for more questions to add to the ongoing list I have to prepare for upcomming interviews and any that you can remember would be appreciated.

Cheers

Whats the last book you read and what was it about?

What have you learned in the last month?

What kind of skills have you improved unrelated to fire or courses taken other than fire education?

Those are just a couple ones that stood out in my mind from my Midland interview.

Building A and B are on fire. They are exactly the same except that building A is made of wall, wood, and ceiling trusses and building B is lumbar supported. Which one would you feel safest in and why?

I had this question and STILL cannot figure out what the answer would be. First I thought they were referring to heavy timber construction so I started to go on about surface to mass ratio, etc. But now I realize they are either talking about an arched trussless roof or something. Regardless they both would collapse rapidly so maybe it's a trick question? Wouldn't feel safe in either??

Any ideas?

Other questions could be about stress, conflicts, leadership, teamwork...just check out the web...there are TONNES out there! ANY could be fair game.

I think the trend is leaning towards the "behavioural' type questions.

which are like:

Tell us a time when... (include specific details from past events)

-you had a conflict with workers/boss...
-broke rules to help someone...
-used your qualifications in an emergency situation...
-demonstrated integrity...
etc.....

* Seriously though, nobody on here had an interview with MissFD recently to share with us??? or spoke to HR about the next round of interviews in the spring???
