Does anyone know when the next hiring will take place?

Pretty soon.
We have one confirmed retirement (Summer 2010) and one possible retirement (confirmed with Chief but date not yet known)possibly Summer 2010. Might be adding 1 more FF to each crew. Possibly running a 3 man pump. Now it's just a 2 man pump.
So a total of 6 hires is likely in the near future. 2 for sure.
Process is quick so be prepared to have everything ready.

Wow,, that is fantastic. But I hope there is not a hire till the summer 2010. I am posted back to Edmonton in the summer and would love to get on with the airport.

Well, looks like they're pushing everything forward sooner than later. Expect the posting for EIA Fire in the next week or so.

How does training work for new people?

We purchased a new Pierce PUC which arrived at the end of last year. Our 2 E-One 4x4s are scheduled to be replaced in 2011/2012. Last recruits were on days for 3 months but with our new MAFT the training center is scheduled to be busy this year so training may be done on shift.

Where will they post the hiring ad? What are the requirements? Just EMR or EMT?

Last year they posted in the Edmonton Journal and also on the Hiring page of Firehall.com
You need your 1001 level II. EMR is required as well as your Class 3 license with Air.
NFPA 1003 is an asset but not required.

As a EMR do you need to be registared with ACP?
