WHISTLER, BC - WFRS set to send second worker to Australia this June Greg Blackman and Brian Buchholz are like two fire engines that pass in the night. Blackman, a professional firefighter with the Melbourne (Australia) Metropolitan Fire Brigade, returned home on Jan. 5 after spending a year on an International Firefighter Exchange (IFE) with the Whistler Fire Rescue Service (WFRS). Buchholz, a WFRS firefighter, and his family returned Jan. 15 to their home in Tapley’s Farm — a home which, for the past year, has been occupied by Blackman and his partner Jill. The Buchholzes and Blackmans, in fact, met for about 30 hours when Brian picked up the Blackmans at Vancouver International Airport last January. They met again, briefly, a few days ago in Hong Kong, when their flights crossed paths and they swapped notes about their experiences and keys to their respective homes.
