The Ottawa fire service has a new tool for saving lives. Yesterday, the department showed off its new communication system -- which combines seven dispatch centres from its pre-amalgamation days to one -- ensuring faster response times and the elimination of duplicated calls. "A more efficient system will help save lives due to lower response times," said Susan Jones, the city's acting manager of emergency protective services.
