FFWannabe, are you by any chance going to the information sessions on Saturday or Sunday this week? I didn't apply (currently in school) but my dad insists me on going, just to get a good understanding of everything for the future. He even offered to drive me down!!! Best of luck to you!!!!:D

hey Jon, I'll be heading down for the session next Sunday (13th), my house is sick this week... so thinking of driving to TO feeling like crap with a 10 year old who is also feeling like crap does not grab me as a good idea! haha!
I think you're Dad's right, it will likely be some good information and good to get gather some experience with the process.... you'll be a pro when you are ready to apply, and there's nothing wrong with that!

Melita Man, you crack me up! We'll have to have a little party in here one of these days!!! hahaha! I'll bring the beer!!!!

I'm going to the session this sunday morning. Generally these sessions are good for people who don't really have a good grasp of the whole process but im sure it will be helpful for anyone.

take the opportunity kids...ltblondie and her crew were super friendly, energetic and sincere in all their advise and info. I spent almost two hours there a couple of weeks ago preparing for my interview (which we wont discuss here....) They like large Coffee's (Tim's is kitty corner to the hall)..nice way to make the dream seem more a reality, even if just for an hour or so.

Blondie are you at the station by wonderland just off the 400? If so I passed that station everyday to Humber this year. Looks like a very nice station but didn't seem to busy. I'm totally going to take you up on that offer. Just being around any station, lights the fire a little more.

Thanks man!!! You know it's funny, I grew up believing I would be a police officer, but never really had the passion for it, then when I discovered the fire service and realized it was all I wanted the police service to be and more... holy crap, talk about kicking the motivation into high gear!!! I just want to be doing my job!!! ;)

does anyone know how many Markham is recruiting, how many applicants they usually get?

FFWannabe
02-08-2005, 03:44 PM
Hiring 18, if I'm not mistaken and they will likely get many applicants. If youre thinking about it, you need to get the application in before the 15th!

Sue :)

PS - I got my letter and I'll be writing on Feb 27th at 9am!

Just a note..I spoke to their training chief Mike and he said they were going for 25-30 so all you guys that thought it was alot less...it not so get your shit together.

25-30, that's good news!

I won't be heading down to the info session as planned... family issues have come up, Mom with pneumonia, Daughter with a big project due on Monday and a couple of other things keeping me in the city! So... those of you who go, please remember to fill us in!

I'll be writing on the 27th, bright and early at 9am!! Anyone else?

Sue :)

Blondie that is great news, perfect finish on a great day! 25 - 30 is a big number for this kind of thing.

Also thanks to everybody, it is great to read what others have to say. Fire fighter recruitment is not something everyone would understand.

I sent my goodies off to Markham today, and again that number makes me feel even better.:D
