This thread is geared toward's people from Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The grind opened today!!! Does anyone else do it?? If so what's your best time, and how often do you get up the mountain.....I love it and find it to be quite challenging....BC....

Ooohh. this is what my sister is always talking about... she has done it and says it is amazing!!! She told me that the only way to finish it is with a pint of ice cold beer!!! hahaha! She was so excited that it was opening soon!!! I can't wait to get out there and do it... for now I just run up an old ski hill in the summer... hahaha.. not quite the same, but my best time was 38 seconds... hee hee (can you tell it's a little wee bit smaller)!

I'd loved to come over and try the grind on time. It just to expensive for the ferry nowadays.

Did they ever find the hiker that was missing BC or is he cougar meat?

They found him on another trail close to the grouse grind. The clue that gave about his location was an eagle circling above. Bad news he was found dead as they presumed he slipped and fell. He was found in a creek I believe.

There's a gondola (spelling??) that brings you down. If you're hardcore, you will walk back down, but if you like your knees you'll take the gondola. 46 minutes is a great time nonetheless bestcoast. I'm going to try to get it under 45, but living in Langley with these insane gas prices, i may just stick to the treadmill for a while.

I realize the last entry was 3 months ago, but I just joined this site. I've never done the Grouse Grind before but was wondering how it compared to the Stawamus Chief? has anyone done both?

If you like the Grind then try the BCMC trail, same hike but with less people.

BCMC is an awsome trail!! I work up the mountain i am actually the supervisor and rope rescue guy for the trams. All i have to say is that its is way way to much fun standing up on the carrage of the trams on a beautiful sunny day and watching all the tourists freaking out as you rappel down :) good times. Anyway what i am hear to say is that i get back from fire school in Aug and i think it would be cool to get some weekly hikes going if any of you are up for that. Kinda a fire service and wanna be fire service day or evening. Also in case you didnt know fire fighters and RCMP get free passes down just show your ID. As far as times go that i am reading on here, anything under 45 is awsome the average is 1 hour 30 mins i dont really no what those people are doing but that the average. So let me know what you think i do the trail 3-4 times a week and would like some company. Hope everyone has a great summer.

I "ran" the Grind  in the rain on Wednesday. Clocked in at 1 hr 10 mins. Like a previous poster said, it was HELL. However I am proud of the fact that I took on a personal challenge and completed it.

My partner did the Grind in 8 minutes, but he took the tram !!

Stay safe !!

Don't forget that the grouse grind is one of the events at the police/fire games in Burnaby in 2009. I expect to see everyone there....
