How do you handle lunch or snacks, on a fire call that exceeds say 4 hours....

Very well thanks!

Usually the neighbors of who's ever fire it is, will bring something over. Or we can call someones wife and they will bring something out. It is usually very disapointing if we fight a fire for that amount of time and we don't get a bite of food from someone, and maybe a drink;) when it's over, We have only ever had a couple of calls that we weren't looked after at all. Not even a thanks! And as expected we always go away saying the same thing..."wait till they need us next time:mad: "...but we all know we would go anyways:rolleyes:

The battalion chief request's a code 7 (Food). Either the Sally Ann bring's their grub wagon down with sandwiches, soup, water....or McDonalds (i know gross) run's down some burgers and stuff. And sometimes private citizen's step out and round up some food for us which is always greatly appreciated.....BC.....

salvation army show up for most fires . If not some departments have canteen units dispatched to fire scene that would I believe fall under the Finance/Administation section for fire department IMS system.
:D

In my old department...
It would cost the Calder boys (whom are on the department) a case beer everytime their bean roaster caught fire. Typically once every 1-2 years..:D

Last long night we had was a mutual aid call. Niverville FD arranged for pizza for everyone on scene. It was a long night - Damn that was good pizza. :D

What the hell...Do you think cause you go "fight a fire" that you deserve food? like they owe you something?? so your saying "next time" you wont do a good as job cause they refuse to feed ya? think your doing all of it for the wrong reasons dude

listen ass you are for sure one of the most disrespectful FF on this site. If for sure you are one you would know that the job demands a lot of energy from each personal. Which means that your body would or is only in demand of carbs and suger for it to function in any way for long periods of time . So would you think that it would be great for someone to bring you a drink or sandwich at a fire or not ? get a life I could write so much to knock you down but your not even a FF such a waste. Sorry to everyone and chief for this reply.

Awww RD, did you miss the sarcasm? That's too bad, it made me giggle and it made you pissed... interesting... as I always say, some people's glasses are half full and some are half empty. When you are negative, you see things as being negative when many of the rest of us may see it as a joke or something to chuckle at. Shake those shoulders a little and relax, eh bud?

I went to humber straight out of highschool, i was hired at the age of 23, that was 4 years ago. I was also loading tons of courses, i would estimate some where around 3000$$$$ spent in just weekend courses and such no including humber college. My advice to you is keep plugging away, the amount of people writing these days is unbelievable, dont take the attitude of just cause you have gone to a post secondary school fire course that you DESERVE to be hired, i see that a lot now of days, and believe me just cause you went to college doesnt mean shit, you gotta be out there doing it all.

I'd hate to see what a veteran firefighter would call "quite some time..."

Damn i go home from work.............................and look at the fun i have missed........RED DEVIL your back.............where were you on a 5 day drunk......... and if this is the case.... why wasn,t a few of us invited... we as volunteers sometimes get spoiled, we had a fire a few years back....the food was in a class all by it's self.... no the food was so good that we were actually praying to the fire god to get us another big call............ but it hever happened......
I do have to admit we get food at one call and its everywhere, people are rolling on the front lawn in pain as they ate that much, then the next call nothing........... you can tell who appreciates your service and you can tell those who don't......

Holy crap...I go away for like acouple of hours and you guys have a party....damn.

R_D, buddy, hahaha....Like I said in other posts....I eat like a pig, and well, if I had a big field fire at my place, and 15 or so guys came out and worked their asses off to help me, as volunteers, (and don't be fooled by thinking $5-$10/hour while on call is a big pay check...when you can ruin clothes, I have had to pay for meals I didn't eat at restraunts, gasoline in my vehicle, etc...etc. )and worked right through a meal time, I think I would want to show them some appreciation. Do I expect it...no not really, but you kind of get used to it, and it's a little disapointing when it doesn't show up.

Hey I missed you, ya big lunk. that witty sarcasm, that beautiful smile......How could we have continued without your valuable contributions to all of our posts......missed you lots....don't be a stranger!

Everyone have a nice day....off to hockey

I think that if we all did a little reflection and math - we could figure out that RD probably isn't even a fire fighter at all. He claims to be 27 or 28 (as per his previous posts) and yet also claims to have been in the fire service for almost 20 years!
Strange - I thought that Nike was the only company that allowed 7 year olds to work for them.
The Ministry of Labour needs to look at protecting these poor innocent 7 years olds that TFD is hiring!
He reminds me of a guy that worked for me at a bar in Calgary who "thought" he was RCMP in training. Turned out to be a nut job.
He's spewed so many tales that even he can' t keep them straight.

Just a thought!
