leather gloves

i have recently been accepted into the fire etc. training program and they recommend bringing a pair of leather gloves. i am just wondering if there is a specific type i should get, in regards to quality and length (short/long).

leather gloves from Marks Work Warehouse would be good for hose rolling and general tasks. Dont know if you need firefighter gloves but the American Firewear kangaroo leathers are great.
