Hi everyone...just wondered if anyone out there knew if Algonquin College's (Ottawa ON) pre-service program was comparable to the others out there? Thanks..

I took the program at Algonquin. I was good. The staff was great and I learned a lot! You get 2 co-ops, one at a fire hall one at the fire dispatch, and one at the Ottawa Carleton hospital in the trauma unit. Unfourtunatley you do not recieve your DZ, which is a big dissapointment. If you want to stay or go to Ottawa for school I do recommend it but it is probably the most exspensive fire course in ON,(actually I know it the most exspensive) Humber offers a great course and it just as recognized as Algonquin's (yes it is recognized by the OFM) it is a fraction of the price and offers the DZ as well. It is in Toronto though and is much more difficult to get into. But yes, Algonquin was worth my money. Good luck.
