Put Out The Cat

When little Tommy was real young,
I think that he was almost three.
He said that when he grew up
A fireman was what he would be.

So when he ran by with a bucket,
A fireman's hat upon his head,
I thought that he was only playing
And told him it was time for bed.

With fire extinguisher from the kitchen
He called with an excited shout.
I'll go to bed in just a minute
As soon as I have put the cat out
