The picture is poignant: A veteran firefighter, his face lined with pain, looks on at some horrible sight we can only imagine, a single tear trickling down his cheek. The haunting photo appeared in full-page advertisements in major B.C. newspapers last week. The ads were placed by the provincial government to say thank-you to the heroes of the summer's brutal forest-fire battles. "They say a picture is worth a thousand words," the headline reads. "We say it's worth at least one. Thanks." Just one problem:....
