I was able to go to the information session today and came back quite impressed. The whole presentation was professional and very well run. The Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Platoon Chief and Chief Training Officer were there. As well as a human resources rep and 2 fitness consultants for the Town of Markham.

They pretty much just went over the different phases and showed videos of the CPAT test. One thing it doesn't mention is the clinical part of CPAT with the VO2 and body fat and stuff which I thought was part of CPAT or maybe thats optional im not sure.

The Chief talked about Markham's projected growth and it looks pretty good. Theyre hiring 25-30 for the fall for a new station and theyre trying to open 2 or 3 more in the next 4 years.

I'm really glad I went because I didn't put my required shots on my resume or cover letter and they want to know that you have them or are getting them without handing in the documentation.

Also at the end they opened the floor for questions and then after informally they answered questions.

Anyone else go?

Thanks for posting this Dh... the town really seems to be growing!

As for the CPAT, many agencies are moving away from the VO2 max, body comp etc, it's not done here in Ottawa either. I know some of the western cities still use it and I know Kingston and some areas of Toronto were using it in the last few years. You'll find it less and less common. If it's not mentioned (it's not on the website either), then it's likely not used!

Thanks for the info! Good to know!

Sue :)

I was there, I too was particularly interested that the immunization records needed to be represented....more so the minimum requirements needed to be represented.

Either list the vac. records ( which to me seemed strange ) or you could state that you met the min. requirements.

I will be resubmitting my resume and cover letter to show the later.

Anyhow I asked lots of questions and found it to be excellent!!

Yeah same here I have to re-submit. I wanted to ask a few questions but never bothered infront of everyone. But this is definetly alot more promising than most recruitments.

Didn't make the info session, but this "immunization records" thing, if we didn' t know about it and did not put it on our resume or cover letter, do we still have time to send it in, or is it something that has to be on to move on to the next phase after the test? And the test by the way, does anyone know if it is going to be a CPS test? Double H, i wrote you a private msg.

You had until Tuesday. It's their own version of the CPS.
