I'm wondering if anyone who has taken the firefighting entrance exam can advise me on good books to learn what is needed for the mechanical aptitude portion of the written test.

Also, can anyone tell me what type of mathematics questions the test contains? (e.g. Algebra, Geometry, Trig, .... and to what grade level?)

the math never gets out of hand to my experience.

The book I got was Normal Halls Firefighter Exam Prep.

It dealt with math, mechanical, english and other various topics that are commonly found in the firefighting exams. I personally found it useful as it breaks down how to solve many of the mechanical and math questions.

I'm sure any of the Fire Exam prep books are great, I'd personally go to any online website or your nearest book store, take a browse through the books and pick one up. Just my suggestion.
