Just curious. Where is the "Boss" as folks like to call him from???? Where do you operate out of??? How many staff is there? Are you a firefighter yourself? Does this site make you a living or is it all a hobby? I dont see any advertising and we dont pay membership dues, so I wondered. Whatever the case, you deserve recognition for your work, and putting up with us. Keep up the good work. I appoligize if this has been answered somewhere else on the site, but I havent found anything of the like.
Cheers,
Michael13

I (web-chief) am Cris Leonard, CEO and founder of firehall.com. The person you see listed here most often is Sean Marr (false alarm). We are located in New Westminster, BC. I came up with the concept of firehall.com around 8 years ago. A personal friend Randy Isfeld, (Williams Lake, BC’s Deputy Chief) mentioned how he had been attempting to find related links to Canadian fire protection sites. We found that there were a number of sites available, but not one main site where you could go and link to Canadian resources. Though I am not a firefighter, I found the idea intriguing. I decided to check and luckily found that the domain firehall.com was available so the site was born. After several years of doing this as a hobby the site became too much work for just one person. We incorporated Firehall Online Inc. in 2001. Since incorporation the site has gone through major development. We have now grown to a staff of 5 and are working feverishly on the launch of a new server. We will be adding a completely revamped mail system with anti spam and antivirus capability, real time chat, a classified section, event calendar, an about page with all of our staff listed (Including pics), and many more features. Until now we have done this all out of the goodness of our heart :). Only recently we have been looking to cover costs by adding the online catalog and we are planning to sell advertising in our directory. So if you know anybody who should advertise here let them know about firehall.com. Don’t worry though the site will not be cluttered with advertising.
Keep posting and stay safe,
Web-Chief
PS. Just to let you know we are sponsoring the 28th Annual I.A.F.F. hockey tournament hosted by Vancouver Firefighters. The tournament is being held at 8 rinks in Burnaby April 5-8th. Stay tuned for the major press release and schedule of events. We will all be there, hope you can make it.

I have built a couple of small sites in the past and it is a ton of work. Go ahead and take $10 out of petty cash and buy yourself something nice, it well deserved:D ;)

As a new comer to this site it is great. Thanks for all your hard work to make this site sogreat. After reading your message on how this site got going, I would like to say that I know Randy personally he has helped our department out a lot over the last few years. If it wasn't for people like your team and friends like Randy a lot of small department wouldn't know where to look for the info that is found here and all of the members for passing info back and forth. Thanks to everyone.

You have a fantastic site here, I have been in the fire service for years and it is great to have a forum where we can all see new ideas and continue learning. I saw your boat pictures, great scenery out there in BC, I've been out a couple of times, I've attached a picture of mine with the Northern Ontario background. You would love the boating out here with the Trent Severn Waterway etc. keep up the good works. Ps part of the fun is getting "Scooped"
