Hello everyone,
I am currently tasked with improving our safety in regards to fire ground decontamination. I was wondering if any of your departments had an O.G. or procedures for decontaminating prior to getting into rehab or before getting back into the trucks to return to quarters.
I was thinking of a simple soap, brushes and pressurized sprayer set up just before the rehab area, so the firefighter and partner could decon themselves prior to removing scba and turnout gear. This will minimize the risk of exposure to the toxins/carcinogens found on our gear, as well as not pass them on to the EMS personnel that monitor us.
