Hi, long time reader, first time poster... just wondering if anyone is currently part of a Rapattack crew, or has done it in the past? I'm going to apply but could use any last minute advice anyone has to offer...
Much Appreciated
Cheers

Good luck to you guys. If you can't RAP it you can always HAC it. The guys in the RAP program are pretty easy going and if you do get on a crew don't forget your fishing rod.

I am one of the guys who works in the supply side of things. When it comes to the campaign fires I work in the Logistics side of things on the overhead teams. I also do the POC Firefighter gig.

awesome man. I am a little concerned about the weight restriction of 180lbs myself, so I may be HACing it haha. Any advice?? What is the day to day like, you REALLY don't see much about that.

For HAC you are based at a camp in your district where you will live for the majority of th time. What you do is dependant on the Hazard. Higher the hazard the shorter your get away time is set. You could have a 5 min get away time or a two hr get away time. When you have a low hazard your crew will be placed on project status which can be from putting up a sign to digging a hole for an outhouse. You may get exported to othe provinces or districs within the province. It is also a bit of a lottery due to how many days worked and what not. A crew can only work so many days before being timed out so they will export crews that have the most available working days.
Camps are not all that bad. There is stuff there to occupy your time not to mention the fact that most ppl bring their laptops and take advantage of the internet that is provided. Just go into it with an open mind and remember that you may not make a boat load of cash if there is a wet summer.

The gal I talked to on the phone said as long as you are in moderate shape you shouldn't have too much trouble at all. Here is hoping!! haha.

Thanks for all the info guys.. Really excited about the possiblity of getting a chance to have such a great firefighter and life experience....
A little confused about the second physical test with the lateral raise, Is it timed or do you just perform as many as you can until failure

The lifts are timed with a metronome. When you here the nock of the metronome you lift. When you hear it again you lower and repeat till you do the required amount or you miss a nock.
