A 40-year-old firefighter was found dead on Friday inside the sleeping quarters of a fire house in The Bronx, said the FDNY.
Firefighter Gary Valentino was working at Engine 72 early in the morning when he was found unconscious.
The 12-year veteran's death is not considered suspicious, said Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano.
Valentino's assignment was to Engine 43 in the Bronx, but had been working as a chief's aide at Engine 72.
The city medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
