EDMONTON - "Now let's go visit hell," is the cheery conclusion to my training to experience Edmonton Fire Rescue's Flashover Simulator. For Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5-11, reporters were given the chance to safely experience this deadly fire anomaly. In a flashover, heat builds up inside a structure and reaches such an extreme temperature that everything within that structure spontaneously ignites. Temperatures can reach up to 1,000 C.
