Anthony, passed yesterday, with his family at his side. Anthony 47yrs. old was in his 17th year with KFR, previously serving as a VFF in Myrtle Station. Although, he fought to the very end, he lost his battle with cancer. Funeral arrangements are not yet complete. I know R78, will provide details, when available.

I would like to take a moment, to say thank-you, to all members who attended Anthony's service yesterday. I can't say for sure, if anyone from FH.com, was in attendance, well except for R78( who again, did an amazing job). However, if you were able to attend, I say thank-you. Over the years, I have had the, unfortunate, opportunity to attend more Firefighter funerals than I would like, however, I thought I would share an increbibly humbling experience, this past week. Up until now, all Firefighter funerals in which I took part had always been with the rank and file, and march. Like everyone, I was always told afterwards, how much our presents meant to the family.
With Anthony's passing, I was asked by his family, to be Mrs. Vanderholst's attendant, throughout, Anthony's visitations, and funeral service. So, now I can attest, to all members that do, take the time to attend these type of events, that it does mean the world to the family. Although, Anthony has not been considered, a LODD, the work put in, to provide his family a proper send off, was awesome. Mrs Vanderholst, and her three children, were so, so, apprecitive of everything they experienced. They just could not believe the support from so many uniforms. I know they wish they could thank everyone personally, but for now please except my thank-you, on behalf, of Brother Vanderholst's family.
Thank-you for taking the time, to read this. RR
