Just wondering if anybody could let me know how Ontario qualifications translate to other Provinces and what is reconized. ex. Drivers licences
What qualifications would I need to apply out West that are not reconized or available in Ontario.
thanks in advance for the information

What I'm seeing is that even areas within the province are different. In some areas (London, Kitchener, Guelph), I believe Pre-Service is a requirement, someone correct me if I'm wrong. In other areas, such as Markham, it isn't required, but it helps and in other areas still, such as Ottawa, it isn't even going to be recognized anymore as they feel if they are going to teach it to you anyway, you will not receive points for it.
It varies, I think it's best to check with each department for specifics.

As a first class firefighter in Ontario without the NFPA 1001,1002 certifications, I would be unable to apply to departments that require those certificates. Even though my department bases the training on NFPA standards, they far exceed what is required in the 1001's. Departments such as Halifax, and so many others outside Ontario would not even look at my resume if I applied. I'm not sure if I became a "certified" firefighter by the OFM, that it would be equal to having the 1001's. Maybe someone else knows about that.
The other qualifications such as DZ (Ontario), Standard F/A CPR and so on are pretty much transferable as far as I know.

I have most recently applied for my NFPA 1001 after passing Ontario's provincial test. This allows you to have lets say interprovincial status in any department outside of Ontario that is asking for minimum NFPA 1001 to apply.I think if your a volunteer and you have all your components you can book to write the provincial to attain this pro-board certification, don't quote me on this. Some other cities I know want you to have your 1002 and an EMT-A designation, (Winnipeg for example). As far as licences go for example again..Ontario's D turns into Alberta's class 3 licence and our Z is equivalent to there air break endorsement which is Q. I hope this helps you out a little.
