SAINT JOHN, N.B. (CP) - A spokesman for New Brunswick's volunteer search and rescue organizations said Thursday the groups aren't receiving adequate government funding. Gordon Friars said the organizations have been told the province will only provide $50,000, despite studies showing the groups need double that amount to maintain training. Friars said the reduced funding will hurt search and rescue efforts. But he said the service will still be available.
