I was just curious as to what would be the best thing to wear to an interview.
The classic shirt and tie? or the whole suit ?
or could you even wear your department dress, if you were going
for another department?
Like to hear what some of you have worn to your interviews , thanks

A suit, with nice shiny shoes. The uniform would probably be a bad idea.

ok ok heres what you wear, track pants, the brightest white tennis shoes you can find, a trench coat.....lol seriously though...THIS is what you should wear, wear a blue dress shirt,(dont wanna wear a white dress shirt as the upper ranks wear white dress shirts and usually the darker blue signifies that you respect the white shirt and are dressing the part of the blue shirts(workers))), Pants, wear a dark pant like a navy blue , usually your shirt will be lighter then your pants, dress shoes..shine the crap out of them, a nice tie that matches your dark pants,,say again a dark navy tie would do it. Wear a suit jacket if you wish, but take it off for the interview,as it shows respect and your prepared to get really into your interview and you expect to me there for a while as your not in a rush. Hope this helps

oops almost forgot, clean shaven, and nice clean haircut, get it cut nice and short, doesnt have to be like a brush cut, just something short and clean looking, and get it cut the day before so it looks great!

Go with the whole suit. But for sure don't wear a dress uniform from another department unless you want to remembered for all the wrong reason's......BC......

Thanks for the replies, hate to make a bad impression at and interview because of what I was or wasn't wearing .
I know that when my dad went for his police interview, he wore a full suit, with nice and shiney black dress shoes. Red_Devil made a good point, it's very important to be clean shaven and have a nice haircut. As for a jacket, he wore a long black leather jacket.
