What a great fix to us hockey fans who've been deprived all season long. A tourny in my home town. Was at the one held at Planet Ice a few years ago. Can't wait to see some good games. And I was very impressed with the turn-out. Let me be the first to welcome all of you who decide to come on over and play your game. I'll be watching!!

I'm a pylon with Winnipeg A in front of fire fighter 1680. I will be carefully screening shots for him.
I hope this time I'll get to experience more than just BC's hospital's hospitality! (shattered wrist at last tourney in BC)
Here's hoping for a safe tournament for all involved!

We just finished the SOFFHL tournament in Febuary. So its kind of late to pull a team togeather for the Vancouver one. Thats too bad we would of liked to come out west and kicked some western butt! (LOL) Maybe next year Firehall.com can advertise the Vancouver tournament at the SOFFHL tournament.

Team from Edmonton is going. I was just in Great Falls Montana for a hockey tournament and went to the fire hall there and they told me they are sending a team. But yes a team from the land of "oil" or as we call it "The Heartland of Hockey" is going

BC..buddy..I would give my eye teeth to be there, it sounds like a blast..but, no can do! Although i will give a little advice though, if I may.
We had our old timers tourney on the weekend, and here is a pointer:
If your game is at 3:30, and your next game isn't until 7:30, DO NOT sit in the dressing room the entire in between time and drink whiskey  ! If you decide to do this anyways, DO NOT attempt to play hockey at 7:30, it ugly! If you decide to play anyways, DO NOT attempt to play defence, when you just started skating 3 years ago and you can't skate backwards well, you have drank since 4pm, you have never played "D" before, and you eventually start taking the puck from your own players! Just a friendly pointer, have fun guys and gals, wish I could be there!!

I played in the soffl tournament with Toronto under assumed name as I was not a FF at the time and man is it fun.I tried to find info this year to get our team in,it came too late.I think it was my first post actually.I did try to talk the Assoc.into sending us but when they stopped laughing they still said no.Wonder why?
If anyone is interested I do now have the contact for this tournament teams from FDNY,Boston Chicago even that hockey hot bed Atlanta.Detroit is barred for life, not because of hockey there is no hotel in the GTA that will allow them to stay.

Trust me I read it....I promise that "shouldn't" happen again! Well...at least not until next year :D It was pretty funny actually, most of us were somewhat disabled, 2 guys were sitting on the players bench with a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other, the other team was completely sober, and was there to win! We had a ball!

Hey Web Chief is FireHall.com plannng on posting any tournament results?
I'm just trying to find a place for those that want check in to see how the teams are doing.
The tournament website doesn't even have the game schedule on it so I'm not counting on them to post results in a timely fashion.
I'm sure the organizers have enough on their plate.
Just thought I'd ask.

"Is it live or is it Firehall.com"
We will be at the 2005 IAFF Hockey Tournament all week upstairs in the Firehall.com booth, with a birds eye view of all the action, come on by and see us. For those of you that can not make it out we are there for you. Will it be live play by play? Probably not but we will be posting all the results here in the forum each day.
Yours truly will be doing the news updates and performing forum duties as it were live from 8 Rinks in Burnaby. The rest of our team will be there as well showing off who we are. We will also have two computers set up with Internet connection that will be available to any one interested in Firehall.com. This will give access to all and the ability to post in the Forum as well.

Well, here I sit at the Firehall.com booth high above the action of the 28th Annual IAFF International Hockey Tournament. We are located in the center of all the action, four rinks in front of me and four rinks to me rear I imagine that is why they call it Eight Rinks Burnaby. The spirts are high this first day of four for this tournament. Teams from up and down the west coast, Anchorage to Los Angeles as far East as Winnipeg, mostly Canadians but all brothers in spirit.
The Games today have been well played and action packed. The cheers and bantering rising from the stands make one forget about that stinking, rotten, no good NHL thing. I digress. Lets cut to the heart of it here (http://firehall.com/downloads/28thIAFFHockeyTournament/day1-results.pdf) are the scores as of the end of play day one.
Tonight there is a little something special planned for all players to partake. With ample supply of their favorite libations at Au Bar in Vancouver, it's casino night. Any bets on the general condition of our crews in the morning?

Got home yesterday from the Vancouver IAFF Hockey tourny and I just want to comment on what a great job was done by everyone involved. Hats off to the Vancouver Dept. and all who were involved in organizing, reffing, sceduling and hosting. 8 Rinks is a beautiful facility and I want to thank every one involved. As far as our team from Kelowna we didn't make the playoffs.....too many "Wobbly Pops" but our guys had a great time.
Thanks again to Firehall.com and all the Vancouver brothers.

I wanted to thank our CDN brothers for showing us such a great time in Vancouver during the IAFF Hockey Tournament. Although we didn't have the showing or representation we would have liked, the 12 of us who came had a great time and look forward to visiting Vancouver again.
We have batted around the idea of hosting the tournament ourselves, but wanted to see what kind of interest there is. Our initial idea would be to have the tournament in mid-May to allow our visitors to go fishing, golfing, sightseeing, etc, when the weather is generally good. We were thinking of having each team play 2 games Monday, 1 on Tuesday morning, take Wed off, play Thursday evening, then Friday have the finals. This would allow almost 48 hours midweek for us to set up golf outings, fishing derbies, etc. We would probably look to host 24 teams in 4 divisions similar to what the guys in Van just put on.
If the tournament has already been awarded to another city, I don't mean to step on anyone's toes. But I would like to at least gauge interest for a possible future tournament. If we get enough replies, we can start securing ice and hotel space, fishing boats, etc a full year in advance. Anyone interested can get back to me at e_tuott@hotmail.com.
Thanks again for all the generosity (and beer) that was extended to your brothers from west of the border. Good luck to all and stay safe.

We are happy to announce the incredible success of the 28th Annual I.A.F.F. Hockey Tournament. The event was hosted April 5th to 8th by the Vancouver Firefighters Hockey Club at 8 Rinks in Burnaby. We would like to extend our gratitude to all those who were involved in both organizing and participating in the event.
Forty-four teams from across Canada and the US played in four divisions. Taking the top spots were, Vancouver for A division, Saskatoon for B division, Surrey for C division and Kitimat/Rupert for D division.
At Firehall.com we are very glad to have had the opportunity to be title sponsor for this year’s event. We had a great time ourselves and feel that we received phenomenal exposure in return for giving something back to the community. Next year’s tournament is likely going to be held in Edmonton, we will certainly be looking at sponsoring again.
While we were at the event we took high-resolution photos of all the teams. The pictures will be available for download a little later this week. Details will be posted on the Firehall.com front page.
We also handled all souvenirs for the event and have a few items left in stock. Check out the Firehall.com Store (http://firehall.ca/catalog/) for your last chance to pick up a little something to remember this incredible event.

Well here they are finally, the team photos from the 28th Annual IAFF Hockey Tournament (http://www.firehall.com/events/28th_iaff_hockey/).
We have created 3 sizes of images for download. If you wish to simply view an image, click on the thumbnail and a small version will be displayed in your browser window. If you wish to download an image, right click the size you would like and select "Save As". Download "Small" or "Large" if you wish to use for your desktop background or if you wish to share it digitally (eg. if it is going to be sent through email). The "Very Large" version is exactly that, you will be downloading a file that is more than 12MB. You should only have to download this if you are planning to print the image on a full page.
We have a number of products that we can print your image on. We will post some demo images of these products tomorrow.
Be sure to contact us (http://www.firehall.com/contact.php) if you have any problems downloading or find any errors.
We would like to thank all teams for your co-operation and apologize for the couple that didn't turn out so well, the whole thing was rather rushed and we would certainly like to of had things organized a bit better. For the most part we managed to get some great shots and we hope that you all enjoy them...
so here they are! (http://www.firehall.com/events/28th_iaff_hockey)
