hi ive been researching alot about paramedics in ontario, and prereqs
this site has helped me with more than i can imagine
its really nice to see lots of helpful people on here (not to single out one member, but dented head comes to mind)
i was hoping if anyone could confirm my course selection for senior year, or add/edit what i should do this summer :)
im taking 2 electives. U level english and bio. College level chem and math. since i want my top 6 grades to be as high as possible and i struggled in gr.11 U chem. will this affect my chanes of being accepted? do colleges prefer students who have taken all u-level courses?
i also plan to have my vaccine record done, take a cpr/first aid course and volunteer at a hospital.
am i missing anything? any kind of help would be greatly appreciated :) and i hope i didnt leave anything out

I’m currently studying the a+ course but I am doing from the idiots guide series. It has good reviews but I’ve since learned about the site and think I should have got the meyer book.
I have some lab sims on my cd that came with the book but it's mainly exercises to do on your computer without the need to buy software i.e. command line attribute settings etc.
My personal way of learning is to just read the whole book a bit at a time, take the recap test at the end and then once I’ve read the whole book (only 100 pages left :-)) take a practice test that came with the book and see what areas I need to re read.
The stuff at the beginning you may already know having done a course previous so that saves a chunk of bits you don't need to learn ut read it any way!
Also I’m going to get a cheap old pc to strip to parts then re installs everything including motherboard. It’s one thing reading how to do it but another actually doing it and having a working pc at the end of it.
Oh and visit professor messer's website it has free a+ training videos.

Looks like you have all your basics covered. I took all the same courses in high school Bio is the big one which I see you are taking. I too took the College level Math and Chem and everything else University. I was accepted into college, but that was nine yrs ago. The sooner you can get your F class license the better but I know with the age restrictions that can be difficult, I was just finishing my 2nd yr college before I was old enough to get my F class. Anything you can find to do in the summer that has something to do with working in your community or volunteering will be helpful for sure, maybe look into St Johns Ambulance, are there any large festivals or concerts in your area? if you could get on with them and be part of their first-aid team that can give you valuable experience. I joined the local fire department, but that was/is a long term commitment, if your not planning on returning to your home town to work as a medic, dont waste the fire departments time just trying to beef up you resume.
