Just wanted to share that I recently came across a book called Body By Science by Doug McGuff and John Little that some folks on this forum might be interested in.
What really impressed me about the book was that the workout prescription is entirely based on the cultivation and analysis of the scientific literature on exercise. It's completely devoid of fads, buzzwords, gimmicks, etc. and based completely on the facts. It is well referenced for those who want to look at the studies for themselves to make sure the authors aren't full of it. I used this a couple of times because some stuff seemed hard to believe, but thanks to the easy to find footnotes I read the studies myself and they were sound.
It has definitely changed the way I train, and I wanted to share it with others looking for a first time fitness program, or for those unhappy with their current program. I picked up a copy from Amazon as that's where I found it the cheapest but it's probably available in most large bookstores as well.
