This site is astonishing. Thank you for making it what it is. I'm an aspiring firefighter here in Ottawa; I've been around stations 21, 22, and the Bell's corners. You may have seen me. I'm enrolling in the algonquin course next year and will take up the application this spring. I'm always open to any advise, as long as it's productive... I've shrugged off enough flak, but I'm sure there's always more. What's my inspiration? I've been in the army reserves and always loved the field. I've worked in Emerge at the QCH and on the medical floors. And there are so many patients etched in my mind forever. Being part of a team that saves lives has always been such an honour to me. It used to be hard for me to express just why I want to be a firefighter, untill I talked to a few. And I found out it's alright to say... I just wanna.

Hey Keraly! Welcome aboard!! I too am aspiring to this career here in Ottawa. I've also been into 21, which Platoon have you been in to see? I go in and see the Platoon B guys quite a bit, great guys!
I spent some time discussing the new hiring criteria with the Captain in charge of hiring and the Head of HR, the face of the applicants getting interviews is going to change quite a bit over the next year, it seems. I would think twice about taking the Pre-Service course. I was told it isn't going to be recognized anymore here in Ottawa. PM me and I'll tell you all about it! Right now I'm off to the Boys and Girls Club... eeeks, building on a nice headache here so I'm hoping that disappears before I get there! hahaa!

Welcome!!!

Sue :)

PS - You can learn a ton on here and spend some time relaxing and getting a pretty good chuckle! hahaha!! great bunch of guys and girls on here! :)
