Well, thanks for coming back! So Far so good, I'll let you know what I hate about it. One question though. The deleted section at the bottom of General. If it was deleted, for whatever reason, just let it disappear I would think, No need to salt wounds. Just my .02 Thanks.

We at Firehall.com have little doubt that some will have complaints but overall we are confident the new site will impress all, even that ol' Red Devil.
Thanks for the heads up on the deleted threads thing. (That is for our records and should not have been visible)
We are looking for any and all input on the new site. As stated on the front page we got pushed into an early release (no jokes please) of the new site so we have a few bugs to work out.

Hey Boss's,
I didn't like it at first, but I am starting to get used to it...I am not to good at change on this kind of thing...but hey, I'll live through it. Here are a few questions and suggestions for ya to ponder. I will post them as opposed to e-mail, so that it will maybe answer other members questions as well!
-My old e-mails seem to be there but there is no content in them..near as I can figure anyways.
-I can't seem to get my avatar to work, but I also haven't spent much time on it (Damn customers at work kept coming in and wouldn't leave me alone)
-I am not sure how to make the happy faces work
-lastly...I think you should ditch the white background, and put a very light color in it's place..the site seems a little to bland to me, but thats just my opinion.
-I didn't join in 1970....I was only 6 then, and PC's weren't readilly available
-I need to remember..change is good...change is good...change is good
good luck,
be safe

We suspect a lot of our members will feel that nagging pinch of unfamiliar territory and that is understandable, who rely likes change?
The e-Mail , this is from the front page.
Note to all members We have upgraded our mail system as well. The new mail system has a new advanced Spam protection system. The new server has been collecting any mail that may have been sent since we shut our old server down, however, due to the large amount of SPAM that built up in accounts over the years, a number of email accounts have been left untouched, resulting in a large amount of unneeded mail. In order to clean out all the Spam that has accumulated in many users accounts we have decided not to automatically restore your previous messages. Do not panic, they are not lost, if you would like us to restore them please let us know and we will gladly do it for you. Just send send us a note to false_alarm@firehall.com and advise us of your account name and your request and we will take care of it as soon as possible. If we do not hear from you by April 30th, 2005 we will delete any stored mail.
Avatars and Smiles ;)
Have a look through the FAQ's keep in mind that some thing are not yet working yet, but soon very soon.
White Background
Colour scheme that's a cool feature stay tunes for that one, you the user will be able choose from many schemes.

We will get that too please be patient.

Only mega problems I found so far are the PM's being there but with no message, and click on any thread with a poll in it, and it takes you to different places.
ie I voted on how I like the new site (yeah ok so it's a blatent suck up) but after when it showed the results it had the right poll for the thread I was in, but showed me all the posts from the thread/poll that JG started about where you wear your vibrator...errrr I ment pager.
Oh and I'm no where near old enough to have joined in 1970 unlike that geezeer imvff :p

I'm not to great with change. But now that I've had my 15 min.'s to pout, I'm starting to enjoy the new site. I'm finding it easier to figure out. I will be happy when I can use the PM's again, but figure it all takes time. Keep up the stride and thanks for all the hard work.

go back to that post and click on the boss's link, when it forwards you...go to the first post on that thread, and there will be the explanation to the rest of your story. In other words...plain english...You will not be getting back any of your old e-mails, because the computer monsters ate them during the crash a week ago.

Your old emails (http://firehall.com/emaillogin.php) are fine, you can request that your previous emails be restored by going to Contact us (http://firehall.com/forum/contact.php) located on the bottom left.
However, All your old Private Messages (http://firehall.com/forum/private.php?) have unfortunately been removed.
Just to clear up any confusing regarding the difference of emails (http://firehall.com/emaillogin.php) and private messages (http://firehall.com/forum/private.php?)
private messages (http://firehall.com/forum/private.php?) or PMs (http://firehall.com/forum/private.php?) are messages sent through the Firehall Forum system and are found in the User CP (http://firehall.com/forum/usercp.php?) at the top left of every Forum page. Only registered Firehall Members can send PMs through the forum system.
Email (http://firehall.com/emaillogin.php), can be found by clicking on the Free Email (http://firehall.com/emaillogin.php) link on the main page sidebar.
Hope this helps

That clears things up guys. A big thanks again. I do have one problem though and maybe it's because I have dail-up. But I have never been able to click onto sites that are put in a post and go anywhere. Is there something special to do?

Nope, you should be able to just click on it. What happens when you click on it? Does it simply do nothing or does it display an error? Can you give me an example of a post that you are unable to follow the link through?

I was going to try and use false_alarms original message above with the bad news. Only the link seems to have disappeared. So I went to general chat to find one. I tried to connect onto http://www.torontofirepics.com/o22305.hmt It's from the thread started by scoop422 titled "great picture".
A dotted box surounds the words, but that's it. The hand just stays there. Maybe I'll have to get my resident expert to fix my lap top? Can you do anything for me?

All links found in forum threads open in a new window, it sounds like your browser doesn't want to do that for some reason. Try clicking the link with the right mouse button, then select "Open in New Window" from the menu. If that doesn't work then you will probably have to get someone nearby to have a look at your machine. Let us know how it works out.
Could it be a pop-up blocker? I used to have one, no idea where it went... lol.. one of those free for three months things I think when I hooked this internet back up... anyway, it wouldn't let me open any links either, I would have to turn it off to open a new window! Just a thought!

All links posted in forum threads open in new windows, it sounds like your browser does not want to do that. Check your browsers settings for pop-up blocking. If you are using a current version of Internet Explorer (IE), you can find these settings by clicking on "Tools", then selecting "Internet Options" and clicking on the "Privacy" tab. You should see something near the bottom called "Pop-up Blocker". Click the "Settings" button to adjust the level of popup blocking. A filter level of "medium" should let you open the forum links but prevent ad popups from appearing. If that doesn't work, or you are having trouble finding these settings you will probably have to get somebody nearby to have a look at your machine.
