24-hours of hockey !!!!!

SLAVE LAKE, AB - The Fire Department is planning a 24-hour hockey game on Apr. 1 to raise money for new equipment, namely a $10,000 oil pump for the jaws of life.

Anybody who wants to donate piles of money to the effort can talk to Jamie Coutts at 849-4110.

The game starts 6:00 p.m. on the Friday and ends at the same time the next day.

SLAVE LAKE, AB - Well well. The fire department’s 24-hour April Fool’s hockey game is shaping up nicely. Organizers faxed out the team rosters and match-ups on Thursday last week. They consist of a lot of your rec league hotshots, along with a sprinkling of your Rusty Nut geezers from the oldtimers (and of course a few of those who swing both ways). Six teams, six goalies and it looks as if each team plays four two-hour games over the 24 hours.

Anyway, it’s all for a good cause, to raise money for the fire department to buy pumps to operate their jaws of life.
