A man is in hospital in critical condition after he deliberately set fire to himself during an argument with his estranged wife Wednesday. Saanich police said they were first notified by the wife at 10:30 a.m. The man, who was under a court order to keep his distance, was attempting to enter the woman's home in the 4200 block of Glanford Avenue. Before police arrived, the woman called back to say her husband, who is in his late 30s, had set himself on fire in the backyard.
