A ban preventing backyard burning in the coastal fire region has been lifted. While municipal and regional bylaws remain in effect, the province has given its OK for residential, industrial and agricultural burning of leaves and wood debris. The ban is normally lifted following the Labour Day weekend, said Darrell Orosz, forest ministry spokesman. "This is very late," said Orosz Tuesday. "This year we've had to wait until the significant rainfall of last weekend."
