I have often visited the Toronto Fire web site to see the different calls they are on and what trucks they send. I have a question for any members who are in Toronto or know about their system. What are the different hazmat levels and how do they get graded????

On Toronto Fire we have 3 response levels for haz mat calls and we have a seperate response for CBRN calls.
A Level 1 call will be a single apparatus response such as a pumper for a small fuel spill from a vehicle. Gsoaline or oil spill 1 - 50 litres that is not in the sewers. Small propane or natural gas leak.
A Level 2 response is small propane fire or leak with injuries.
medium or large natural gas leak
minor spill of gas 1 - 50 litres in a sewer
medium spill of 50 - 200 litres
odours in a residence with injuries
lab incident no one hurt
radioactive incident no one hurt no fire
abandoned container not leaking no one hurt
chemicals minor leak no on hurt
Our response is 1 pumper, 1 haz mat pumper, 1 decon aerial, 1 haz mat truck and 1 district chief
A Level 3 response is
any serious haz mat call and our response is
1 pumper, 1 haz mat pumper, 1 haz mat support truck, 2 decon aerials, 1 heavy rescue squad, 2 district chiefs, 1 haz mat truck, 1 air light truck, 1 decon truck, 1 command unit and platoon chief.
