VANCOUVER (CP) - The federal government is giving British Columbia a $100-million advance under its disaster assistance program to help cover costs of the province's devastating forest fire season, Defence Minister John McCallum said Saturday. "The $100 million is an advance payment," McCallum stressed at a news conference with Premier Gordon Campbell.
