I can only find that they're hiring EMT ambulance and EMT paramedics ... and that posting closes on April 15. It doesn't say anything about hiring firefighters ... unless you have to call them to find out.

Hey bro

The processes definately are not intechangable at all, however you may want to consider trying for Edmonton since from what I understand they will be making a list of 150 guys again. They also have a fairly competitive process none of that pass/fail junk at any stage!

I am going to be trying out again this year in the off chance I don't make probation where I am going in August hehe!

Buggers failed me on my interview last year *cry*.

Are you with edmonton FF/EMT Guy ?

And good luck to all who apply!

Hey...does anyone know when the last time Edmonton went through a hiring stint. I seem to remember about a year ago but who knows, maybe I'm full of Ka-Ka! I also have some 1081 experience and my Vehicle Extrication module...would that move me closer to the top of the list say? Also, once in and trained up a bit, would they pay for EMT-A training? Does the Union agreement allow for that? Any feedback would be hugely appreciated.

They are doing one right now. And I think they have had at least 2 in 2005. They are hiring like crazy.

Edmonton's last competition/opening was last spring. From that they developed a list of 150 recruits most of which are already on the job or in class.

It is extremely doubtful (I would say never but I can't speak offically) that the EFD will pay for your EMT.
