When he got the phone call in February 2000 telling him he had cancer, the Aurora firefighter couldn't believe it. After all, he was just 23 and it had all happened so quickly. He had found a small lump on his arm in January and saw a plastic surgeon who had said it was nothing. Then, he received a phone call about a month later saying it was cancer. "I'm a pretty healthy guy, so it was a shock," he said. He was worried he would lose his arm and didn't know what other horrors awaited him. Luckily, his cancer turned out to be mild. Today, his cancer is in remission and he is back at work as a Central York firefighter. He's also Mr. November in the 2004 Fire Fighters of York Region Calendar.
