A taxpayers' group is sounding alarm bells over a city bylaw that allows the Calgary Fire Department to charge for spill cleanup and traffic control around collision sites. The fees are part of a new bylaw approved Monday by city council. It allows the fire department to charge fees for non-emergency services such as $150 for cleaning up fluid spills and $250 for managing traffic flow around car-crash sites.
