Douglas Percy said he always wondered whether he had what it takes for heroic deeds. His answer came Tuesday when a neighbour's house caught fire. "I didn't have a choice -- an older gentleman and a paraplegic woman live there," said Percy. Ignoring thick, billowing smoke, he wrapped a shirt around his face and burst into his Elm Avenue neighbour's home, located a disoriented occupant in the acrid blackness and led him safely out through the heat and blinding smoke.
