MISSISSAUGA, ON - Peel paramedics are more frustrated than ever when they arrive at work and the head of their union says patients are feeling the heat as a lengthy contract dispute with the Region of Peel continues.

Mark Whitley, president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 277, said the Region's 280 paramedics have been without a contract for more than a year now, and serious negotiations with the Region broke off last October.

While provincial law states paramedics can't strike as their service is essential, Whitley said this contract dispute has left paramedics with a bitter feeling that's affecting their job.
