A male driver is in hospital after crossing the centre line on West Saanich Road Sunday morning and colliding head on with a fire truck. Police believe he fell asleep at the wheel. Both vehicles sustained substantial damage. The lone occupant of the Ford Tempo was taken to Victoria General Hospital with a pelvic fracture and serious facial injuries. The North Saanich Fire truck was occupied by two senior firefighters involved in a driver training operation, according to RCMP Const. Georgina Josefsson.
