Proposal would see Saanich provide police dispatch service for Oak Bay

Saanich, having already taken over emergency dispatch for North Saanich fire, is now working on a deal to take over 911 dispatch for Oak Bay police.Saanich already provides fire dispatch for North Saanich. As a larger municipality, with the infrastructure already in place, Saanich council has instructed staff to pursue service agreements for the likes of dispatch. "We tooled up the fire dispatch and it could handle the other Peninsula municipalities if they did come our way. And we are talking to Victoria and Oak Bay about their fire dispatch right now," Leonard said.
