KABUL (CP) - The civilian deputy fire chief at Camp Julien says he lost his job because he complained about a lack of proper firefighting equipment at the Canadian Forces base in Afghanistan. "General (Andrew) Leslie told me: 'You're being removed from theatre,' " Gary Lovett said on Friday, just hours after his contract with SNC-Lavelin-PAE had been terminated. The project manager for the Canadian Contract Augmentation Program, or CANCAP, which subcontracts work at the base to SNC-Lavelin-PAE, refused to talk about the firing.
