While the rest of Kelowna was engaged in a feel-good orgy of self-congratulation, and was busy canonizing firefighters as heroes, the Brydons could only look at the rubble of what was once their life and believe that someone, somewhere, had screwed up mightily. They believed that the destruction of their home, and 237 other homes in Kelowna, could have been avoided. "I'm not saying the firefighters were wrong in what they did," Lynn said. "The decisions -- the decisions that commanded the firefighters -- were made higher up. I think the wrong choices were made in Victoria."
