In a weather-beaten doublewide trailer tucked away behind the Performing Arts Centre, several local men are making an effort to address Prince Rupert's long-neglected search and rescue needs. Prince Rupert Search and Rescue sank out of sight more than a year ago, after the previous core of volunteer leaders and searchers left town. Now, a clutch of new volunteers, led by fledgling SAR Chief Glen Rea, have begun sifting through piles of outdated and broken equipment as the first step making PRSAR into a dependable emergency response unit once again.
