After careful planning and budgeting over the past two years, the Brighton Fire Department is now the proud owner of a thermal imaging camera. This camera will allow firefighters to enter smoke filled buildings with eyes that can see. The thermal imaging camera can “see” any casualties, locate the “hot spots” in the building or can even be used for night searches. It transforms heat patterns into images on the camera and on the TV screen located outside in one of the emergency vehicles. The screen is monitored constantly and firefighters are alerted to any dangers.
