Just for curiosity sake.....with all these Fast and Furious wannabe's, anyone run into any trouble with NO2 systems?

Hey Buckster,

No2 is an inert gas that is used as an oxidizer in gasoline engines. Itself, will displace oxygen in a confined space. In a more refined condition it is used as a propellent for food products and in the medical world is better known as laughing gas... pretty versatile stuff eh !

Unlike the movie, No2 will not be the fuel for your explosion, but under the right conditions ( fuel/air and compression ) will enhance combustion. A more likely hazard will be the extra fuel system needed to realize the full benefits of a "Nitrous" system. This extra fuel/nitrous system will probably "stand alone" from the rest of the vehicles fuel supply, it may have its own electric fuel pump(s), lines, and metering/injection setup. There is no gaurantee this will be controlled by the ignition either. As with most vehicles, ensuring the battery(ies) are not supplying power will shut the system down ( nitrous systems use solenoids which close instantly without power applied ). Then its like most fuel injection systems and will have a pressurized supply line. Deal with the No2 cylinder if needed and I think your good to go !

Take care out there...

you're right on the money when it comes to NO2... in and of itself, it's not a problem... more of a catalyst.

and i read that same article about the car of people a while ago... scary stuff.
