HALIFAX, NS - George McLellan will become president and chief executive officer of Emergency Medical Care (EMC) in October 2005.

"After an in-depth selection process, the board is delighted that George has agreed to take on the leadership of EMC and its team of highly skilled professionals," said Dr. Eric Howatt, chair of the board of directors. Mr. McLellan will replace current CEO Arnold Rovers, who announced his intention to retire earlier this year.

EMC manages ambulance operations, including paramedic and medical communications, and supports medical first-response services in Nova Scotia on behalf of the provincial Department of Health.
