CRANBOOK - A four-engine Lockheed Electra water bomber crashed Wednesday while fighting a forest fire near Cranbrook, killing both of those on board. Pilot Ian MacKay, 46, of Rossland, and co-pilot Eric Ebert, 36, of Toronto, were killed and the plane was destroyed in the crash, said Richard Covlin, manager of Air Spray (1967) Ltd. of Edmonton. MacKay had a wife and four children. Covlin said he believes Ebert was single.
