View Full Version : Brampton Fire Fighters.....
I had a few more question about volunteering in Brampton.
Brampton has 3 volunteer stations. http://www.city.brampton.on.ca/fire/volunteer.html
Do these stations actually go on calls or are they just practice stations?
How do they pick a volunteer? Is everyone who goes to the station to volunteer accepted or...?
Thanks again

To answer your question (I'm a fulltime FF with Brampton), we have 2 volunteer stations, we closed one about 2 years ago. They do run calls (not too many), but they do. They are always dispatched with the closest fulltime station.
The remaining halls are 217 in Churchville, which is close to Steeles and Mississauga Rd. The other is 218, which is close to Bovaird and Mississauga Rd. As for volunteering with them, you would have to live in about a 5 mile radius of the hall. If you do, just go into the hall and apply to the following:
Station 217, Churchville
Platoon Chief Paul Carpe
(905) 874-2737
Station 218, Huttonville
Platoon Chief Blair Salvisberg
(905) 874-2738
The best time to reach these stations is any Sunday morning. You can also drop by the stations in person and pick up an application.
Thanks for the help... Very appreciated.
Unfortunatly Both Locations are about a 15 mins - 20 mins drive from my house. I'm just trying to think what would be the best thing to do? I heared that nobody around my area takes volunteers, I live at Dixie and Dundas in Mississauga.

If you're serious about volunteering and your job allows it (money situation as well), you could move to a community that has a volunteer department. Brampton, Caledon, Burlington, Hamilton just to name a few.
Another option is to apply for a job with a big industrial workplace (Ford, OPG,) that has their own security/fire personel.

Hey guys,
are the Volunteer Halls in Brampton still active? Last post I read was from 2005, and the City of Brampton links are no longer working...not even sure if the users that posted are still responding in this forum or not.
Interested particularly in:
Station 218, Huttonville
Platoon Chief Blair Salvisberg
(905) 874-2738
Thanks for your time guys,
Daryl
