Here are some pic's of our new(used) rescue/command unit. We bought our towns old ambulance from the RHA. 1999 E-350 diesel, auto. I think it should work pretty nice for our needs! Striped it up to match our snuffer!!

Good looking rig. Damn that white looks sharp!
Didn't someone on here say that white is a FINE colour for firetrucks?
Only problem I have with old ambulances is that they're so tight on headroom in the cube. Oh yeah, and sometimes tight on GVW.
Congrats and I hope you guys are happy with your new addition!!!

Nice truck, any idea what the total conversion cost was, including the truck? After the fridge, microwave...warm soup and hot coffee when it is -40 out would be nice.

There's nothing wrong with a white truck...except you tend to lose them in the snowbanks till spring....

Q: What the first thing a Firefighter does too a 1 ton truck?
A: Put 2-1/2 tons of equipment on it!
It certainly does look nice....... We got a used rescue many many years ago from a department on the sunshine coast. It was an ex moving van..... TONS of room in the back, plus it carried all of our equipment (which is a good thing about a rescue), but small enough to get down the tight-ass driveways we have an abundance of.
Anyway, the colour... well, can't fault you on that. Its a rescue.... their not supposed to be RED. Fire Engines are RED. Rescues... well, they can be whatever.... ours is that safety yellow/lime yellow/might be green/70's flash back/omg I just lost a bet and have to paint my car/whatever colour....... Good thing the rest of our trucks are RED (exept the engine, which is white over red, but she still looks great).

Is that a Ford Crestline F-350?
Looks like what BC uses for their Ambulances here

Very nice! I have known several departments around here that have had great success with re-built apparatus. I'm sure it will serve you well! :)

P.S. even though I am a staunch believer in red for fire trucks, I must say, your rigs look very sharp :)

Surprisingly inexpensive, we bought the ambulance from our own board, for 12k, we had the roof painted because there was some minor corrosion around the roof seam, removed the old ambulance decals, and re-striped to match our snuffer, safetied, did a couple of stone repairs on the windshield, licensed it, and Jeff and myself spent an afternoon hanging airpacs and stuff by the time everything was done, we have probably less than 15k into it! I thought that was pretty good as it was just more than we paid for our last rescue, and it was not in near the vehicle this one is, and it lasted us for 15 years!

If you end up with an old ambulance most come equipped with an inverter. Its a lil rectangular outlet near the floor below the O2/suction area. These are used to power incubators, monitors and the like on transfers not sure on all the specs but they may power a Kettle or similar appliance. The male end plug would be a tough find aftermarket I figger.I am sure the manufacturer could provide all that info.

Unfortunately we do not have an inverter so I could see (if the call was long enough) pulling the generator out and plugging a microwave in.

Nice Refurb! Looks almost identical to some of our older BC Ambulances. Of course it is'nt as we never had stainless wheeels!! They look sharp!!
Cheery Creek Fire refurbed an Ambulance a couple years or so ago. They went a little farther and put in another bulk head. So when you entered the side door of the "Ambulance". You were in a seperate area with forward facing seating for 3 firefighters. In the rear away from the crew was where they kept their equipment. I'm assuming for safetly reasons. You don't want to be in the same area with your gear/equipment if the rig ever rolls over. Ouch!

Just curious where you keep your rescue equipment, I didn't see any in the pics. The cutter/spreaders pumps ect.

All of our heavy equipment is in the F-450 snuffer! It is a heavier truck with 4x4, so can go to a few more places than the rescue. In the rescue we have all of our water rescue stuff (not that we have much) ropes, radios, airpacs, first aid stuff, blankets, gloves socks, water, back boards, stretchers, etc. We mostly use it for the mounted airpacs, and as a firefighter transporter. We also have our FM, cell, and should be putting a fleetnet in soon for it to be a proper command unit. Oh yeah...and I can't forget the CD player!!!

Oh...thats much better!! So anyways...I was thinking that we could save battery power by leaving all of our emergency lights off....and just put a green light on our dash on the way to fires. With this in mind I am sure we could easily do 100 MPH, and definately don't have to obey any traffic signs! Think of the time we would save!! Once we got to the scene...we could use the green dash light as a command unit signal!!
