A massive fire burning in Washington State was just a few kilometres south of the Canadian border Wednesday. The 22,000 hectare fire was sparked by lightening June 29 and was within eight kilometres of the border Wednesday, across the border from Cathedral Park near Keremeos, B.C. U.S. fire officials said it was unlikely they would be able to stop the fire from crossing into Canada. "It is highly likely this fire will not be contained by anything we can do," U.S. fire spokesman Steve Butterworth said Wednesday. "The U.S.-Canadian border will not be sufficient to stop this fire."
